Nalandabodhi brings the timeless wisdom of the Buddha’s teachings in a relevant and approachable way for students of today. Through the Paths of Study, Meditation, and Mindful Activity, you can begin the journey to see clearly, open your heart, and bring true meaning to your life. The Path of Study is the fruition of many years of work in transmitting, translating, and adapting traditional Tibetan Buddhism for our modern minds.
Until now, the Path of Study material was not easily accessible. Nalanda Digital Dharma brings the same quality and depth of the authentic Buddhist teachings so that you can learn at your own pace – from anywhere and at any time. With this format, our goal is to bring Nalandabodhi teachers and dharma to people like yourself, and to provide an easy gateway to the wisdom of the Buddha.
The core curricular materials were drawn primarily from the teachings of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche under the guidance of his teacher, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche.
Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche is the founder, president, and spiritual director of Nalandabodhi, an international community of Buddhist centers. He is acknowledged as one of the foremost scholars and meditation masters of his generation in the Nyingma and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoche is known for his sharp intellect, humor, and easygoing teaching style, for launching the kindness initiative #GoKind and for his outreach to communities internationally. He is the author of Emotional Rescue, Rebel Buddha, and other books. A lover of music, art and urban culture, Rinpoche is a poet, photographer, accomplished calligrapher and visual artist, as well as a prolific author.
With direction from Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, the Introduction to Buddhism series in Nalanda Digital Dharma was compiled and edited by Mitra Karl Brunnhölzl and Stuart Horn. It was made possible by a generous and honorable benefactor of Nalandabodhi.
Each course has multiple modules (similar to classes), and include videos, audio recordings, and articles. There are also reflection activities for you to use to discover your own insights and ways to apply the teachings in your life. To get the most out of the material, it is suggested that you follow the courses and modules in the sequence laid out for you.
Your instructors have been selected for their exceptional knowledge, clarity, and ability to present Buddhism in a way that makes the teachings accessible. You will be introduced to Nalandabodhi’s “Mitras” – a group of long-time, senior students of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. These Mitras, or ‘spiritual friends’, guide Nalandabodhi’s three paths of Study, Meditation, and Mindful Activity and teach throughout the world. Courses are also facilitated by senior Nalandabodhi students and university faculty who are being trained to be the next generation of Nalandabodhi teachers.
