Welcome!
This is the first of four courses in the Introduction to Buddhism series, providing a gateway to the Buddha’s basic teachings about the human condition and how we can work with our mind. Designed for modern students, the course combines profound content presented in a jargon-free manner by senior teachers. Each session is designed to take no more than 30 minutes so that you can access them whenever and wherever you wish.
The course is divided into four modules, each of which consists of 4-5 short sessions. Each session begins with a description of the material that will be presented, who is teaching the material, and page numbers from the source text (Introduction to Buddhism 101: The Life of the Buddha and the Spiritual Journey).
In each session, you will encounter a mix of videos, audio recordings, and articles. Each of these are followed by a reflection exercise. The reflection exercises are in the form of open-ended, multiple choice, true/false, and matching questions. After watching a video, listening to an audio recording, or reading an article, click on the “Start Reflection” button located to the right. Complete the reflection and proceed to the next video, audio recording, or article in the session. When all the reflections have been completed, enjoy your reward at the end of the session and click the “Mark Complete” button at the bottom of the screen. This will track your progress and take you to the next session or module. All the sessions in the course can be completed in about 9 hours total.
